How does the Vital Records PortaVault help me organize my records?
The Vital Records PortaVault includes 60 pre-printed color coded labels which list important personal records and documents. To use the PortaVault™ simply follow these three steps.
- Locate a label that pertains to a specific record or document
- Apply the label to a record protector
- Locate the records or documents listed on the label and insert them into the record protector
Will I be able to easily access the records and documents stored in the PortaVault?
Yes, the Portavault is designed for easy access of records and documents. The PortaVault contains a three ring binder upon which the record protectors move effortlessly making it easy to locate a specific document. In addition the PortaVault contains a Document Locator form which you can use to identify the section of the PortaVault™ where the document was placed.

How many pages of documents will the Vital Records PortaVault hold?
In the Vital Records PortaVault is a two inch “D” ring binder which can hold several hundred pieces of standard paper (8.5” x11”). The exact number of pieces of paper your completed Vital Records PortaVault will hold depends on the characteristics of the records and documents you store in it. The Vital Records PortaVault will easily accommodate a family of four that does not have multiple properties or lengthy business agreements or a complex financial situation. Additional consideration should be given to the length of a living trust, if you have more than 50 pages worth of trust documents, you may need the double case set.
What are the measurements of the Vital Records PortaVault?
The outside dimensions of the Vital Records PortaVault are 13 5/8" H x 12 ½" W and 4" D. The dimensions of the binder, which is contained in the PortaVault are 11 5/8” H x 10” W x 2 ¾” D.
Is the Vital Records PortaVault portable?
Yes, the Vital Records PortaVault is designed with a sturdy handle and shoulder strap which makes it easy to carry in any situation.
Is the Vital Records PortaVault water-resistant?
Yes, the Vital Records PortaVault is made of heavy weight canvas which is backed with a PVC coating and treated with a water-resistant spray. In addition the Vital Records PortaVault comes with a water-resistant cover which can be used to cover the Vital Records PortaVault in situations involving rain, hail or snow.
Can the Vital Records PortaVault be locked?
Yes, the Vital Records PortaVault zipper may be locked closed using a standard luggage lock. The zipper pull can be locked to the shoulder strap ring located on the side of the case.
Where should I store my Vital Records PortaVault?
Your Vital Records PortaVault should be stored in a place you think is safe. The Vital Records PortaVault fits into many fire proof containers. The removable binder feature provides an alternative of only storing the binder component in a fire proof container.
Can I use the Vital Records PortaVault to store my favorite photographs?
No. The Vital Records PortaVault is not designed to store your favorite photographs because the record protectors used in the Vital Records PortaVault do not pass the Photographic Activity Test (PAT). All materials used for storing photographic collections should pass the PAT and will be marked as such by suppliers of high quality photographic enclosures. We suggest you have your favorite photographs transferred to a CD or DVD which can be stored in the PortaVault.
How are Shipping and Handling Charges Calculated?
Shipping and handling charges are determined by your order total. All orders will be shipped Parcel Post by the US Postal Service, shipping time ranges from 2 to 9 days. Priority mail service with a shipping time of 1-3 days is available for additional $11.95. Orders are shipped Monday to Friday within 24 hours of being received.

Yes, we ship to Alaska and Hawaii. Shipping and handling charges are determined by your order total. Customers must choose “To Alaska or Hawaii” in the shopping cart for the correct shipping amount to be charged.
