February is the perfect month for special moments, and feeling the love from those around you. I had a very special moment this past weekend, when I attended the NAPO Third Annual Los Angeles Organizing Awards, and was honored and proud to accept the award for "Best Home Organizing Product" for the Vital Records PortaVault. This award could not have happened without the support of the voters - you! I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing your support to bring further awareness to the PortaVault and the solution it provides.

This Valentines season give the gift of life by donating blood. It is a heart warming experience and sharing it with someone special in your life can be equally rewarding for both of you. Not only will you be spending time together, but will be doing so to benefit a patient in need, so they in turn have more time to spend with their loved ones.
So many in our community have much to be thankful for... homes for our families, food on our tables, plentiful opportunities to live happy fulfilling lives. But one of our most precious resources, life-saving blood can not be bought like a commodity. Life-saving blood can only come from generous donors who give the gift of life. Your single blood donation can potentially save three lives.

Ice
The ICE (In Case of Emergency) concept was conceived by a paramedic to enable first responders (paramedics, firefighters, police officers) to identify people and their next of kin to obtain important medical information in the event of an emergency.
Many people carry mobile phones, but research shows that more than 75% of people carry no details of who they would like contacted following a serious accident. Store the word "ICE" in the address book of your mobile phone with the name and phone number of the person that should be contacted when you are unable to communicate. For more than one contact name and priority, use ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc. With "ICE" first responders and hospital staff will turn to a victim's mobile phone address book and know immediately who to contact. When seconds matter, this information may be vital. Following are some helpful tips when choosing your "ICE" contacts.
- Make sure the person whose name and number you are giving has agreed to be your ICE partner.
- Make sure your ICE partner has a list of people they should contact on your behalf - including your place of work.
- Make sure your ICE person's number is one that's easy to contact, for example a home number could be useless in an emergency if the person works full time.
- Make sure your ICE partner knows about any medical conditions that could affect your emergency treatment - for example allergies or current medication.
- Make sure if you are under 18, your ICE partner is a parent or guardian authorized to make decisions on your behalf.
- Should your preferred contact be deaf, then type
ICETEXT then the name of your contact before saving the number.
